Measuring the impact of IA monitoring tools

This NEUROCLIMA pilot explores how AI tools and social insights can support people who shape public opinion and policy: from educators and journalists, to content creators and decision-makers. The goal is to understand how innovative approaches can make climate adaptation more accessible, relatable, and effective across different communities.

By combining advanced monitoring tools with social, economic, and political perspectives, this pilot looks at the “tipping points”. That is, where small actions can lead to wider change.

The project tests how these insights can be used in real-world contexts: whether to inform better policies, inspire public debate, or create new ways of engaging citizens in climate action.

This pilot will be performed in five countries: Portugal, Cyprus, Belgium, Ireland and Greece, and run for eight months.

Use Case 1.1: Smarter tools for better storytelling

In the digital age, where both information and misinformation rapidly circulate on social media, journalists and content creators are pivotal in shaping public understanding and attitudes towards climate change. This Use Case explores the effectiveness of AI monitoring tools alongside traditional methods in identifying  social tipping points and leverage points for climate adaptation. It focuses on how  these tools can help journalists and content creators to discern influential  discussions, verify the credibility of information, and better engage with the public about climate-related issues. By providing these stakeholders with advanced tools and training, the aim is to enhance their ability to inform and educate citizens about climate change impacts and facilitate informed public discourse.

Use Case 1.2: AI tools for smarter climate policy

Effective climate policies depend on both solid data and understanding what citizens care about. This use case tests how AI monitoring tools can help policymakers identify key moments and opportunities where action can have the greatest impact. By analyzing trends and citizen concerns, these tools give decision-makers a clearer picture of how policies are received and where interventions are most needed. The goal is to make climate policies more effective, responsive, and aligned with public needs, ultimately supporting better adaptation outcomes for communities.
