NEUROCLIMA Webinar Series Recap: Exploring Climate Emotions Through Creativity

By: IASIS

Over the past weeks, the NEUROCLIMA webinar series brought together participants to explore how creative approaches can help us understand and process the emotional dimensions of climate change.

Across three sessions, we explored innovative tools that bridge climate awareness with emotional resilience and meaningful engagement.

Cinematherapy for Climate Awareness
Through storytelling and film, participants reflected on how narratives can help people connect emotionally with climate realities. Cinematherapy uses guided reflection on films to transform complex feelings—such as climate anxiety or uncertainty—into shared dialogue and collective understanding.

Bibliotherapy and Climate Emotions
In the second session, we examined how literature and storytelling can support emotional awareness and meaning-making around climate change. Reading and discussing carefully selected texts can help people articulate difficult feelings, reduce isolation, and sustain engagement with environmental challenges.

Creative Arts for Climate Futures
The final webinar focused on creative arts as tools for expression, reflection, and engagement. Practices such as visual art, storytelling, and participatory creativity can help individuals and communities process climate emotions and imagine alternative futures grounded in collective action.

Key takeaways: Addressing the emotional dimension of climate change is essential for sustained engagement. Creative practices provide safe and accessible pathways for reflection, connection, and collective imagination.
